Our Purpose:  Filling up on God's Word - Overflowing with God's Love

Our purpose at Wellspring Church is to provide a place for people to worship God by getting to know God and then loving Him with everything we've got, not just inside of "church" but outside as well.  We worship through song and prayer and we place great emphasis on filling up on God's Word through the studying of the Scriptures.

Jesus said in Mark 12:30-31, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'  The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater  than these."
As we gather together out of love for God to sings songs and fill up on God's Word, we then make it our goal to overflow with His love to others by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We do this because He first loved us.

1 John 4:9-11 says: This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live  through him.  This is love: not that we loved God,  but that he loved us  and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.  Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to  love one another.

We believe that love for God and love for others springs out of our hearts when we understand what He did for us through the Cross of Jesus Christ.  We don't love God and others so that God will then love us- no, we Love God and others because God already loves us and showed us by sending His Son to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and set free to live a new life in Christ with the hope of heaven!  This is the Gospel!

We then make it our goal to overflow into the community

Isaiah  58:11 says: The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

We believe that we are living in a "sun-scorched land" where many people are thirsty for the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
It is our purpose here at Wellspring Church, to worship God, build others up through the teaching of God's Word and then reach into the community abroad, so that the gospel of God's grace and love will overflow into the hearts of many!  We believe that if we stay focused on Christ he will always guide us, satisfy our needs, and strengthen us to be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Our Vision:  To see Jesus - To see Jesus in you

Our Vision is to see Jesus

Hebrews 12:2  says: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Our vision at Wellspring church is to fix our eyes on Jesus- That we would see Jesus as our all in all. That we would look to Him for guidance, direction, strength, and power.  That God would give us a clear understanding of what Jesus did for us when He came to earth, lived and died, and then rose again.

Our Vision is to see Jesus in You

2 Corinthians 3:18 says: And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Our vision at Wellspring Church is to see people’s lives changed in a Christ-like manner.  We believe that God loves to change lives and bring beauty out of ashes.  The greatest evidence that we have to tell us when we are focused on Jesus is when we see our own lives and the lives of others being transformed into the likeness of Jesus by the power of His Holy Spirit.

We believe that our mission will not be completed until either the Lord returns or until the whole world sees Jesus and Jesus is seen in the whole world.

We say as the old hymnal writer says:  "Be Though my vision"

Our Mission:  Finding the lost - Feeding the found

Our mission is the Great commission

Finding the Lost

Jesus says in Mark 16:15:  "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

We place great emphasis on evangelism (seeking those persons who may not yet know Jesus).  Jesus says that he came to seek and to save that which was lost. We believe the way that we do that is by spreading the message of his good news to the whole world.

Feeding the Found

And again Jesus says in Matthew 28:19-20:  "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

We also place great emphasis on discipleship (training the follower of Jesus to be disciplined and obedient to Him, and to manifest love).  We believe that the way that we do this is by training and teaching them in the disciplines of the Christian faith.

Jesus tells us that his followers are like sheep and he is like the shepherd.
John 10:14- "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me-

Jesus goes on to say that there are many other sheep out there in the world that are lost and not yet in "the pen".
John 10:16- I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.   I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

We believe that there are many lost and thirsty sheep in the world who will find themselves refreshed here at Wellspring.

WELLSPRING CHURCH'S STATEMENT OF FAITH

ONE GOD:  WE BELIEVE that there is ONE living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, and governs all. He is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent.

THE BIBLE:  WE BELIEVE that the scriptures (the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice; and we believe that the Bible is the complete and final written revelation from God.GOD THE FATHER:WE BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER, an infinite all powerful and personal being, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of all people; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from Satan, sin, death, and hell - all who come to him through His son, Jesus Christ. JESUS

CHRIST: WE BELIEVE IN GOD THE SON, Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.THE HOLY

SPIRIT: WE BELIEVE IN GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, who came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (in order to lead people to salvation), and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who believe in Jesus Christ; we believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Holy Spirit.

MANKIND: WE BELIEVE that God created mankind—male and female—in His own image and likeness, free of sin, to glorify Himself and enjoy His fellowship. Tempted by Satan, but in the sovereign plan of God, man freely chose to disobey God, bringing sin, death and condemnation to all mankind; that all people are sinners by nature and choice and are therefore under condemnation in desperate need of a savior.

SALVATION: WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as the substitutionary atonement in our place, and that salvation is found in none other than Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was the sole and complete payment for sins, fully satisfying God’s righteous wrath. We believe that Jesus Christ died for all people and that salvation is available for each person that turns from sin in repentance and places their faith in Christ alone by grace alone. At salvation each person is made a new creation by the Holy Spirit, declared righteous before God, and secured as an adopted child of God forever. Genuine faith continues in obedience and love for Jesus Christ with a life eager to glorify God and persevere to the end. THE

CHURCH: WE BELIEVE IN THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. The Scriptures command believers to gather locally in order to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, fellowship, the ordinances of baptism and communion, service to the local body through the development and use of talents and spiritual gifts, and outreach to the world to make disciples and wherever God’s people meet regularly in obedience to this command, there is the local expression of the Church under the watchful care of pastors and elders. A church’s members are to work together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ, according to biblical principles and morals.

WE BELIEVE also in the laying on of hands for the filling of the Holy Spirit, for ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons, for sending out missionaries, and for receiving the gifts of the spirit and healing.

BAPTISM AND THE LORDS SUPPER:WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ORDINANCES to the church, 1) baptism and 2) the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is a public declaration of the believer’s salvation in Christ, identifying with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection symbolized by immersion in water. The Lord’s Supper is the united commemoration by believers of Christ’s death until He comes. We believe that baptism by immersion and communion is open to all believers, yet should be preceded by a careful self-examination.

THINGS TO COME: WE BELIEVE in the rapture and the personal, visible, premillennial, RETURN OF CHRIST JESUS to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom; in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and the endless suffering of the wicked.PRACTICAL:WE BELIEVE the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ's love (Gr.: agape), which is greater than differences we possess, and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.WE BELIEVE worship of God should be spiritual; therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.

WE BELIEVE worship of God should be inspirational; therefore, we give great place to music in our worship.

WE BELIEVE worship of God should be intelligent; therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us on how He should be worshiped. We seek to teach the Word of God in such a way that God’s message can be applied to the individual's life, leading that person to a greater maturity in Christ. We teach both expositionally and topically.

WE BELIEVE worship of God should be fruitful; therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have been truly worshiping Him.

WE BELIEVE that the church government should be simplistic rather than a complex bureaucracy and we depend on the Holy Spirit to lead, rather than on fleshly promotion.

WE BELIEVE that the Bible clearly delineates that spiritual gifts are for the edification of the body and that they are to be exercised in love. We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without love, all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless. In our services, we focus on a personal relationship with God through worship, prayer, and the teaching of the Word of God. We do not practice speaking in tongues during a worship service, because we believe it would cause more confusion than edification. These gifts are encouraged (if exercised biblically) in more intimate settings, private prayer and small groups where their benefit can accomplish the purpose for which they have been given - the edification of the body of Christ.
